“I was gonna talk to you about something. But I lost my nerve,” she admitted. “And now I can’t find it again.” The hand that was on the spoon moved to pick up a cloth napkin instead, and dip it in the mixture. “This should help with the shirt.”
When Marinette was about to start scrubbing away the stain, Luka’s hand was back on hers, this time with more strength. As she looked up, she was startled to see how close he was. So close, she could make out the light pink color on his cheeks.
“You know you can trust me with anything, right?” he said, with a husky voice she had never heard come from him.
Nor was he spying, or nosing around, or any synonym which could be related to the fact that Felix was sitting in the library, innocently studying, when he overheard (yes overheard is the correct word thank you very much- no implications there) Marinette in the deepest throes of a heart-to-heart with her best friend.
Felix buried his face into his book, almost nose-to-nose with the yellowing paper. The scent of old books flooded his nostrils and he tried hard to concentrate. He’d come here for a little peace and tranquility over lunch, not really wanting to go home since his father was back in town and prowling around the mansion like a disapproving shadow.
Apparently his Lady could find him anywhere, whether she knew it or not.
“But what if he’s upset? No- I mean- he’s definitely going to be hurt,” Marinette whined, from the next aisle over. If Felix hadn’t been eavesdrop- accidentally overhearing everything she said, he would have gone over and chided her for being too loud. For some strange reason, he always enjoyed chiding her.
Scathing insults were his forte of course, but Marinette was never on the receiving end of those. He could never bring himself to be like that with her.
So chiding would have to do.
“I just don’t know how I’m going to end this, he’s going to be so mad at me for it,” Marinette’s voice was even more muffled than before. Felix assumed she’d buried her face into her hands. “Or what if he’s not mad, what if he just never speaks to me again, what if he hates me, what if he cries?”
Ok so now he was eavesdropping. Felix was curious…what had Marinette done for someone to be mad at her for? She did have an extraordinary knack for getting into trouble…
Aaaand this was none of his concern. Really it wasn’t. Just because the love of his life was having a personal crisis in the far-too-big (in Felix’s opinion) YA Fantasy aisle, it didn’t mean it was any of his business. They were partners, yes, but only in their superhero forms and only he knew that- at least he was 99.9% certain she hadn’t figured him out yet.
As far as Marinette knew, they were just friends. Something he was still trying to wrap his head around.
Besides, it was probably something she was overreacting to, making mountains out of molehills. A trait far too endearing for Felix’s liking.
“Girl, you seriously need to pull yourself together,” Alya huffed and Felix found himself subconsciously nodding in agreement. “Are you Ladybug or not?”
Felix froze, the book slid slowly out of his fingers.
He heard Marinette sniffle, “I-I am.”
“So just face him! Use that superhero inner-strength of yours and just tell him the truth, tell him you want to quit,” there was a smile in Alya’s tone, which added an extra layer of poison to the blade now twisting in Felix’s gut.
it was suggested to me that i ought to make a short version of this post for convenient reblogging. please read the original post original postor check mygeekycomtv tagif that link is broken.
Avoid collaborations with dubious monetized YouTube channel GeekyComTV
I’ve held my tongue about this channel for almost a month and I can’t frickin’ do it anymore. This is a call out post.
[WHY?] To make a long story short, this user has been posting videos for over a year now, using miraculous art. Although in some cases he has asked permission to repost, he began monetizing [making money off of] his videos at some point without notifying any of the artists.
None of the artists agreed to monetization.
@maristoryart is only one of many artists that reported him upon finding the monetization, but for some reason, Geeky has focused on her as the reason his channel is being reported [for a second time at least, since this isn’t the first account he has lost]…
GeekyComTV’s creator has resorted to blackmail, to defamation, to actual threats, and finally to identity theft, in an attempt to bully mari and others into complying with his wishes.
It’s gross and it is NOT okay.
[^^^ just 20 of the 200+ videos being monetized]
[WHY? part 2: the long version] And now the entire thing. Strap in and get ready to get real damn mad…
Adding this to the short version because I don’t want to overwhelm people:
So if you’ve been following along the replies in the long post, you would have noticed that this guy was replying quite frequently. I made this little piece here titled “Guy Contradicts Himself” or “Guy Who Can’t Keep Up with His Own Story.”
So guy was accused of monetizing. He thought he could be sneaky with it. So artists reported him. He harassed Mari and begged to have the strikes removed. He even tried to bribe her by saying he’ll send her whatever money he made. She refused. He then tried to find out who ratted him out regarding the monetizing [bottom left]. He also tried to justify his monetizing to another artist by saying everyone else monetizes their art [middle].
Once he started replying to the post, he mentioned that he doesn’t make much on his hundreds of videos! He claimed that he only started monetizing recently and that he only monetizes some (all negated in the post with proof). He even started to claim that he shared a portion of his earnings with some artists.
Eventually he decided that all of his earnings go to music companies [red outlined] and that he doesn’t profit. You see all the screenshots on the right? I checked all his videos this morning. All monetized by him directly. Not by a music company.
Hell, I haven’t even gotten to him claiming that fan art is fair use and
that he was nice enough to even ask for permission! My guy, not even
Zag or Thomas Astruc can use my fan art commercially without my permission. Who the
heck are you that you think you have the right?
You received permission to repost. That’s it. Artists are not obligated to ask you to remove their content when you clearly breached their trust by monetizing without their consent.
The latest update now is that he made his own website, posted Mari’s comics there as well as one of Feri’s, edited out their names, added his own and is now claiming they’re his fan art.
JFC my brain hurts from the sheer idiocy of this situation.
More Updates: Geeky has added the permissions that he received to repost on to Instagram to try to turn the tides in his favor. However, the issue was never that he didn’t have permission to post, he didn’t have permission to monetize. Excerpts of his message in bold italics:
“‘Check the four permissions’ to those who love drama and keep wasting my time asking for my permissions of the fan arts take a look at these permissions that i got from who i had problem with”
Permission to post, not to monetize. Just because there was no talk of monetizing does not mean that the artist has allowed it. Silence is not acceptance. Permission is required for monetization.
YouTube’s Monetization Criteria:
“permissions can’t be revoked by one side”
Artists have the right to revoke any permission they’ve given unless specifically stated otherwise in a formal contract. It is their work that’s being used. No one else has the right over it.
“The use of the fan art in my videos qualifies as fair use under US copyright law because it is non-commercial (not selling anything)”
Fair Use: The doctrine that brief excerpts of copyright material may, under certain circumstances, be quoted verbatim for purposes such as criticism, news reporting, teaching, and research, without the need for permission from or payment to the copyright holder. (Google dictionary)
These videos fall under none of those categories.
Also, Monetizing is commercial use. Here are YouTube’s guidelines on monetization:
“Fan art which is a piece of art that contains a character that is not owned by him”
The character does not belong to the artist but the actual artwork does and is still protected under copyright law. Not even the original creators of the characters have the right to use fan art as they wish.
ryuusa doing god’s work while i slept lol. i made an imgur album [edit: forgot to link it lol] with all of his replies if anyone wants to see it. i keep updating it everytime he says something dumb or incriminating, so feel free to check back later, cos i’m sure more thigns will show up lol.
also minor update: he is sending around doctored screenshots of ‘mari’ blackmailing him in the worst english i have ever seen lmao. [not to mention it’s VERY CLEARLY doctored (not gonna say why cos i ain’t cluing his dumb ass in)… sorry bruh, ur fooling no one.]
FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF
BUT!!
he still has his other channel, and i don’t doubt he will keep creating backups. they always do. he is not the only one youtuber i have run across who pulls dubious crap [he’s just the most stubborn lol].
so please watch out for yourselves and know that you have the right to protect your work, even if it’s just fanart!
also, creeper update on the side here, but he is stalking my facebook rn and sent a pic of me and my child to me like a gross creep.
it’s not even my default userpic. he specifically chose this one. yuck. seriously, watch out for this guy, he is disgusting.
He’s found my personal facebook as well and send a friend request…. NOPE! NOPE NOPE NOPE! *BLOCK* There’s a reason why artists have a facebook account for their daily lives and a different account for their art. This is crossing way too many lines….
Frollo and Mother Gothel convince Quasimodo and Rapunzel that their lives are dependent on them. The two villains claim the outside world is a terrible place even though they know this is not true. They also constantly emotionally abuse their victims by implying their worthlessness and destroying their self-esteems. Quasimodo and Rapunzel sympathize with their captors and even believe their captors are protecting them and treating them with kindness. However, both captors are merely using and manipulating their victims for their own selfish purposes.
Belle does not sympathize with the Beast when she is treated poorly. She becomes angry and leaves the castle, only returning by her own wish so that the Beast (who saves her) does not freeze to death. She does not respond nicely towards the Beast until he treats her with respect. In this situation, Belle has control and is not manipulated into feeling for the Beast, nor does the Beast treat her disrespectfully after the first night. While the Beast does have an underlying motive as to keeping Belle in his castle, he abandons this idea and sets her free to make her happy. If anything, this story is a case of Lima Syndrome where the captor starts to sympathize with the victim.
Check out this post which refocuses the purpose of Beauty and the Beast from merely (and wrongly) being about Stockholm Syndrome to it’s original purpose.
FUCKING FINALLY
I don’t usually reblog stuff like this, but Beauty and the Beast is my favorite movie and I’d like to have this on my page!
this is actually a very good analysis. I take back all the times I’ve called Beauty and the Beast a ‘stockholm syndrome’ romance.
